The adjustable grip hitch is a simple and useful friction hitch which may easily be shifted up and down the rope while slack.
Used when you want to adjust your tensioning rope. It can be shifted easily by hand in either direction but locks up firmly under load.
It will hold fast when loaded, but slip when shock loaded until tension is relieved enough for it to again hold fast. For more security and gripping power, make three wraps around the main part of the rope.
Adjustable grip hitch, Adjustable hitch, Adjustable loop.
1. Pass the working end around the anchor object. Bring it back alongside of the standing part.
2. Wrap the working end twice around inside of the loop.
3. Then wrap it around both ropes and finish by tucking the end under the last wrap.
